Qatar has been awarded the hosting rights for 2026 FIBA U-18 Asia Cup

According to the Qatar Basketball Federation (QBF), the nation has been granted the privilege to host the FIBA U-18 Asia Cup in 2026. At the FIBA Asia Board of Directors meeting on June 26, the competition was approved and formally added to the FIBA Asia Events Calendar for 2026–2028. It was also announced which countries would host several important continental championships.

The tournament will be held in Qatar, with 16 Asian nations playing fierce matches in two state-of-the-art stadiums. On average, eight games will be played each day. The aforementioned highlights Qatar's remarkable organizational readiness and its potential to function as a comprehensive blueprint for organizing large athletic events.

The news coincides with Qatar's hosting of the 2027 FIBA Basketball World Cup, which will be held from August 28 to September 12, 2027, and will be the first in the Middle East and North Africa. In addition to marking a significant turning point for basketball in the area, hosting the Asian U-18 championship demonstrates Qatar's commitment to development and promotion of team sports and its international athletic reputation.
