NMoQ Metaverse Pilot Project showcases next-generation digital museum experience

Qatar Museums (QM) and the National Museum of Qatar (NMoQ) have launched the NMoQ Metaverse Pilot Project, developed in partnership with Cisco and Web3 partner droppGroup. The initiative marks a major step in digital cultural innovation, offering an immersive museum experience that blends 3D environments, augmented and extended reality, and artificial intelligence.

The project strengthens Qatar’s leadership in adopting metaverse and AI technologies to enhance engagement and cultural accessibility, in line with Qatar National Vision 2030.

Through the pilot, visitors can explore digital twins of three galleries — The Archaeology of Qatar, The People of Qatar, and Life in Al Barr (The Desert) — featuring 22 curated objects with interactive AR, detailed descriptions, and links to the online collection.

Guided by Murjana, NMoQ’s bilingual digital mascot, users receive personalized narration in Arabic and English. Accessible via mobile, desktop, tablet, and VR, the platform also supports remote learning, allowing students and educators to experience Qatar’s heritage in new ways.

Built using droppGroup’s AI-driven Web3 platform, the experience is available through web browsers and Cisco Webex, enabling seamless access to NMoQ’s virtual galleries.
