The installation of an open-air cooling system along the shoreline and wooden promenade in the Mina District is a significant improvement to the visiting experience at Old Doha Port. An essential step in securing the port's standing as one of Qatar's top tourism destinations is the unveiling of this formal project.
The project is expected to be completed in time for the much-anticipated Qatar Boat Show 2025, with operation starting the following summer. Construction is expected to start in June 2025. Visitors will be comfortable all year long, even during the hottest summer months, with the innovative cooling system that will run the whole length of the Mina District promenade, which includes more than 530 linear meters of pedestrian pathways, storefronts, and outdoor eating terraces.
The system will maintain ambient and cool temperatures during the hottest months while maintaining the port's coastal aesthetic by using cutting-edge subterranean chilled water pipelines connected to strategically placed ventilation outlets that blend in perfectly with Mina District's unique architectural elements and language. Along the promenade's outside edge, glass paneling will be erected to maximize efficiency and retain cooled air, forming a cozy microclimate without blocking views of the sea.
Trags Electrical Engineering & Air Conditioning Company was named the project's main contractor at the signing ceremony, which was held at Mina Hotel and Residences. Trags Electrical Engineering & Air Conditioning Company and Old Doha Port representatives were in attendance.
