Qatar Airways and Ooredoo collaboration aims to develop and co-design an advanced Hybrid Multi-Cloud ecosystem named “Sama”

Qatar Airways and Ooredoo's formal strategic partnership aims to jointly develop and create the cutting-edge hybrid multi-cloud environment known as "Sama." This project is a groundbreaking step for both Qatar and the region at large, demonstrating a major breakthrough in technology. 

One of the MetaHuman cabin crew members of Qatar Airways noted that the moniker "Sama," which means "sky," resonates as a phrase that is both recognisable and a sign of ambition. The Plaza Doha hosted the official announcement of the cooperation yesterday.

The creative solution will combine the know-how of highly recognised hyperscalers like Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud, enhanced by the robustness and security of Qatar Airways' private cloud, and supported by top technology companies like F5, Cisco, and Nutanix. 

Sheikh Ali bin Jabor bin Mohammad Al Thani, CEO of Ooredoo Qatar, discussed the partnership and emphasised the need of adopting new technologies to redefine innovation and connection.

The adaptability of this transition is a crucial feature. Qatar Airways may assign workloads according to a range of criteria, such as latency, data security, and business requirements, thanks to the Hybrid Multi-Cloud configuration. While retaining high-performance workloads in its own Private Cloud environment, Qatar Airways hopes to accelerate innovation and roll out new services to improve the customer experience by utilising the Public Cloud's capabilities. Through its network fabric, Ooredoo will provide direct connections between the Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud platforms and Qatar Airways' facilities.
