Certain Anker power bank types are not allowed to be carried or checked in by travelers, according to a travel advise provided by Qatar Airways. The decision comes after a recent recall of lithium-ion batteries because of possible burn and fire risks associated with the batteries.
Among the impacted models are:
- Anker Power Banks (Models: A1647 / A1652 / A1681 / A1689 / A1257) – Recalled in June 2025
- Anker PowerCore 10000 – Recalled in June 2025
- Anker Power Banks (Models: A1642 / A1647 / A1652) – Recalled in October 2024
The recall was announced by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) last month, citing the possibility of internal short circuits that could result in overheating and fires. According to the Ministry, it will work with the dealer to ask for a refund for the cost of the affected goods, a gift card, or a free replacement.
