Qatar Cancer Society officially launched a first of its kind digital platform ‘Wayyakum’ to support cancer patients

A first-of-its-kind digital portal for cancer patient assistance was officially inaugurated by the Qatar Cancer Society (QCS). Patients with cancer and their families can apply online for online assistance for their treatment through the "Wayyakum" portal, and their applications will likely be approved in 2 hours or less.

At the launch of "Wayyakum," the National Centre for Cancer Care and Research (NCCCR) deputy medical director, Dr. Al Hareth Al Khater, along with a number of other high-ranking representatives from charitable organizations and the "Sanady" Regulatory Authority for Charitable Activities, were present, including Sheikh Dr. Khalid bin Jabr Al Thani, Chairman of the QCS.

Applications for cancer treatment support are reviewed and approved by the QCS Cancer Patients Treatment Support Committee, which is made up of cancer patients support specialists, a social worker, the head of the department that provides support for cancer patients, the head of finance, and the director of program management. The General Manager grants final approval.

Between 2013 and 2023, the Qatar Cancer Society paid for the medical care of almost 9,362 patients.

The Wayyakum app and website are available through QCS website.
