Qatar Calendar House announced on Thursday the onset of the ‘Al-Shabat’ season, regarded as the coldest phase of winter.
The season is set to last 26 days, beginning today, January 16, 2026, and is expected to bring a drop in temperatures, increased cloud cover, and dry, chilly winds across the country.
Several areas, including Doha, have already experienced rainfall.
Meanwhile, the Qatar Meteorology Department (QMD) has issued an advisory warning of strong winds and colder night-time temperatures over the next three days, starting January 15, 2026.
