Qatar Foundation’s Ability Friendly programme in Qatar to organise an annual summer camp designed specially for people with disabilities

Next month marks the return of the Ability Friendly programme of the Qatar Foundation's Ability Friendly summer camp, which offers a variety of activities, the chance to play sports, discover new hobbies, and form new friendships in a friendly environment. There are two groups at the summer camp, each of which may house up to 15 campers. Both camps have activities including cooking, ceramics, origami, crafts, painting, science experiments, sensory play, yoga, and swimming. The first camp is from July 9 to 20 and the second is from July 23 to August 3.

The Ability Friendly Programme, a component of the Pre-University Education offered by the Qatar Foundation (QF), has a positive impact on inclusivity and social advancement in Qatar and has the power to enhance and even transform lives, according to Nigel D'Souza, the initiative's programme and events coordinator and summer camp supervisor.

D'Souza emphasised the positive effects of the Ability Friendly Programme on its participants' lives, saying, "Through this programme, we see firsthand the remarkable benefits that sports bring to people's lives — fostering physical well-being, boosting self-confidence, and cultivating lifelong friendships — and we encourage more members of the Qatar community to participate in sports activities. Additionally, D'Souza underlined that the summer camp and the Ability Friendly Programme had something to offer everyone, stating: "Our Ability Friendly Programme does not only serve children; it also serves adults.

The Education City App, which is free to download from the Apple Store and Google Play, may be used to register for the summer camp, which is now accepting applications. The whole spectrum of activities are included in the camp price of QR 1,000. Every camp participant must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian throughout the whole session.
