Qatar is among the top 10 LNG exporters in February 2024 according to monthly report by GECF

Global LNG exports increased by 4% (2.74 million tonnes) year over year to 71.45 million tonnes (Mt) in January and February of 2024, led by both GECF and non-GECF nations. In February 2024, Qatar is ranked among the top 10 LNG exporters. The leading LNG exporter in February of this year was the United States, closely followed by Australia and Qatar, as per the Gas Exporting Countries Forum's (GECF) monthly report on the gas market for March 2024.

Global LNG exports increased by 0.35 million metric tonnes (1% y-o-y) to 33.95 million metric tonnes in February 2024. In order to counteract lower LNG reloads, both GECF and non-GECF nations backed the rise in LNG exports.

Non-GECF nations continued to hold the top spot as the world's largest supplier of LNG, with a 52.2% market share, up from 50.7% the previous year.  Additionally, the percentage of LNG exports from GECF member nations rose from 46.7% to 47.1%, but the percentage of reloads fell precipitously from 2.5% to 0.7%.

"LNG exports from GECF member countries and observers increased by 1.9% (0.30 Mt) y-o-y to 15.98 Mt in February 2024," according to the GECF report. Algeria, Malaysia, Mozambique, Nigeria, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates led the increase in LNG exports, offsetting decreases in LNG shipments from Angola, Egypt, and Trinidad and Tobago.
