Qatar Museums has announced plans for six exhibitions that will open during the first week of Design Doha

Six installations that are scheduled to launch during the first week of Design Doha, the biannual showcase for innovation and quality in the design community in Qatar and the MENA region, have been announced by Qatar Museums. The biennial's first week of programming is scheduled for February 24–28, and it will run until August 5.

Arab Design Now, a regional survey of over 70 Arab designers with 38 commissioned pieces, will serve as the focal point of the exhibition schedule. It will be on display at M7, Doha's hub for innovation, entrepreneurship, fashion, and design. The exhibition showcases the design moods, aesthetics, and preoccupations of the Levant, the Gulf, and North Africa, with topics that address the distinct geographies and cultural values of the region.

Arab Design Now, which is curated by Rana Beiruti, the creator of Amman Design Week, looks at how local and regional designers combine modern techniques with traditional approaches drawn from the region's history, with an emphasis on sustainable design and environmental issues. A significant magazine, the first to feature several projects by each of the innovative designers taking part in the show, is released in conjunction with the exhibition.

As part of Design Doha's first anniversary, five more shows will launch. They include Weaving Poems; 100/100 HUNDRED BEST ARABIC POSTERS Round 04; Colours of the City: A Century of Architecture in Doha; and Cultural Kinship.

The dual-themed exhibition Colours of the City: A Century of Architecture in Doha examines how the city's architecture has changed in reaction to outside influences.

His Majesty King Charles III founded the non-profit organisation Turquoise Mountain, which is home to the enthralling Weaving Poems, an exhibition of Afghan-born artist and designer Maryam Omar's talent. Omar was commissioned to create a series of abstract carpets that are inspired by the rich oral tradition of women weavers in Afghanistan and were co-created with artisan communities that are still in operation today.

100/100 HUNDRED BEST ARABIC POSTERS, an exhibition honouring the genius of Arabic graphic design, will make its debut in Qatar at Design Doha. With the goal of inspiring, educating, and connecting emerging talent, academics, and professionals, 100/100 — HUNDRED BEST ARABIC POSTERS is an independent platform that celebrates Arabic graphic design. Through poster design, it archives the modern visual culture of the Arab world.

Arab Design Now and Cultural Kinship, a pop-up design exhibition and shopping experience, will be held at M7. Asma Derouiche, creative director of Studio 7 Qatar, and Joe Bou Abboud, founder of Boo Design Studio, curated the exhibition. Through creative design goods, the exhibition will highlight the diversity of Arab and Middle Eastern identities.
