The United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) in Geneva has confirmed that Qatar has been chosen to host the 9th Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction (GP2028). This selection reflects Qatar’s strong readiness and ongoing commitment to advancing global disaster risk reduction efforts.
Taking place five years after the Sendai Framework’s midterm review and two years before its 2030 endpoint, GP2028 will serve as a strategically important gathering. It will help shape the direction of global disaster risk reduction initiatives for the period beyond 2030.
The platform will offer a vital opportunity for countries and stakeholders worldwide to outline future priorities, with Qatar set to play a prominent role in guiding these discussions.
