Qatar has ranked first in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region in the 2026 Global Peace Index, the National Planning Council announced.
The ranking underscores Qatar's position as one of the region's safest and most stable countries despite global and regional challenges.
The report also noted an improvement in the Societal Safety and Security category, with Qatar's score rising from 1.400 to 1.369, reflecting the strength of its institutions, public safety measures, and social cohesion.
Published annually by the Institute for Economics and Peace, the Global Peace Index assesses countries based on societal safety and security, conflict levels, and militarisation.
The index serves as a key benchmark for measuring stability, security, and the conditions that support sustainable development, investment, and quality of life.
