Qatar Red Crescent Society has initiated its annual Ramadan Campaign, #DutyToHelp, to aid vulnerable populations

The annual Ramadan Campaign, #DutyToHelp, has been launched by the Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) to assist underprivileged communities both domestically and globally. Personnel from QRCS, both inside and outside of Qatar, have been carefully planning and carrying out the campaign for months before Ramadan 1445 AH. During and after Ramadan, the money raised from kind donations made in Qatar will support a number of development and humanitarian initiatives that help about 1.6 million people globally.

The Volunteering and Local Development Division of QRCS is leading several programmes in Qatar that assist underprivileged communities. In order to provide disadvantaged families and foreign workers with fresh meals and provisions during Ramadan, the Volunteering Section works in conjunction with other QRCS departments and mobilises volunteers. To encourage community involvement and support, the Community Development Section plans philanthropic visits to designated groups throughout Ramadan.

The Ramadan Iftar initiative is the main emphasis of the Community Care Section. About 47,000 clients from low-income households get food vouchers from this section, allowing them to buy necessities for the fasting month. Low-income families, widows, single moms, the elderly, those with special needs, and relatives of people who are jailed are given priority. Furthermore, disadvantaged families receive frequent cash transfers to help with living expenses. In order to cheer up underprivileged families and kids, QRCS organises the Garangao celebration on the fifteenth day of Ramadan. Food vouchers and presents are given out.

Through its international representative offices and partnerships with national societies in host nations, QRCS expands its humanitarian initiatives globally. One of the main initiatives is the Ramadan Iftar campaign, which provides food boxes to more than 234,000 recipients in 18 countries, guaranteeing them access to Iftar and Suhoor meals all during the month of Ramadan.

These projects are aimed at Palestine, Syria, Yemen, Somalia, Afghanistan, Sudan, Bangladesh, and a number of other nations.  Additionally, QRCS will provide bakeries with flour for daily bread distribution throughout Ramadan and carry out Eid Clothing, Zakat-ul-Fitr, and food security programmes in underdeveloped countries.

In order to promote a sense of togetherness and joy during the holy month of Ramadan, QRCS seeks to provide help to beneficiaries prior to the holy month. The fundraising drive will fund a comprehensive plan of humanitarian programmes until the end of the year, encompassing food aid, housing, water, sanitation, livelihood, education, psychological support, health, and medical help, in addition to Ramadan-specific initiatives.
