Qatar Central Bank and Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) have announced that Qatar’s Himyan payment card is now accepted in Saudi Arabia, while Saudi Arabia’s mada cards are accepted in Qatar, strengthening payment system integration between the two countries.
The rollout follows the completion of technical and operational integration between the two payment systems. The initiative is expected to make cross-border payments between Qatar and Saudi Arabia more seamless while expanding access to their national payment services.
The partnership highlights both countries’ efforts to strengthen payment infrastructure and integrate their national systems, supporting financial sector digitalisation and making payment services more efficient, convenient and accessible.
