The Ministry of Transport (MoT) confirmed that the high-speed electric rail project between Qatar and Saudi Arabia marks a significant milestone in enhancing bilateral cooperation, sustainable growth, and regional integration. Stretching 785 km, the line will link Doha and Riyadh, run through Al-Hofuf and Dammam, and connect Hamad International Airport to King Salman International Airport.
Traveling at over 300 km/h, the service will reduce the journey between the two capitals to just two hours, improving mobility, boosting trade and tourism, and elevating overall quality of life.
The project is expected to handle more than 10 million passengers annually, create over 30,000 direct and indirect jobs, and contribute roughly 115 billion riyals to the combined GDP. Scheduled for completion in six years, it will adopt world-class standards and advanced technologies, supporting environmental sustainability, cutting emissions, and reinforcing a modern, integrated GCC railway network.
