Whale Shark expeditions will resume in 2025, according to a joint announcement from Qatar Tourism and Discover Qatar at a launch ceremony at Place Vendome. Residents and tourists can take advantage of the tours' exceptional chance to see one of Qatar's most distinctive natural phenomena.
The northern waters of Qatar are home to one of the biggest whale shark aggregations in the world. With the least amount of disruption to the marine ecosystem, the trips seek to promote ecotourism by letting visitors see these amazing animals in their native home. Insightful information about whale shark behavior and Qatar's conservation initiatives to save these threatened species is also included in the tours.
Close collaboration with important private and public organizations, such as QatarEnergy, the Ministry of Municipality, Mawani Qatar, the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, Qatar Airways, and the General Directorate of Coasts and Borders Security, has enabled the Whale Shark Tours to return. These collaborations improve the overall guest experience and service delivery while fortifying the tour's operational foundation.
Under the direction of knowledgeable marine instructors, Discover Qatar's trips offer a one-of-a-kind experience on a luxurious catamaran. Guests will enjoy a truly immersive and informative journey, learning about the migratory patterns, biological characteristics and ecological importance of whale sharks in the marine ecosystem.
Explorers can see these gentle giants, up to 20 feet in length, feeding in the warm, plankton-rich waters of the Al Shaheen Marine Zone, which is around two and a half hours from Ruwais Port, during this year's season, which runs from June to September 2025.
