Qatar's tourism industry got off to a great start in 2025, with more than 1.5 million foreign tourists between January and March. An integrated tourism strategy that incorporates high-profile events, strategic alliances, and a variety of destination experiences was the driving force behind this boom.
With 36% of visitors coming from GCC nations, Europe (28%), and Asia and Oceania (20%) coming in second and third, respectively, Qatar is becoming more and more popular in a variety of areas. Arrivals of visitors via air (51%), land (34%), and sea (15%) demonstrate how successful Qatar's diverse access strategy is.
With 214,000 visitors throughout the course of the 8-day event, Eid Al Fitr 2025 had the largest holiday arrival numbers in three years, a 26% rise over 2024. The percentage of GCC visitors was 49%, up 18% from the previous year, and hotel occupancy was 77%, up 10% from the same time last year.
Accompanying this expansion was robust performance in the hospitality industry. 2.6 million room nights sold and an average hotel occupancy of 71% were indicative of increased demand driven by major events such as the Qatar International Food Festival, Web Summit Qatar, and the Doha Jewellery & Watches Exhibition (DJWE).
