QSFA announced the opening of registration for the 8th Qatar East to West Ultramarathon

In collaboration with the Qatar runners team, the Qatar Sports For All Federation (QSFA) announced today, September 3, the beginning of registration for the 8th Qatar East to West Ultramarathon. The ultramarathon will take place on December 15, 2023, and it will cover a distance of 90 kilometres from Sheraton Park on Qatar's eastern coast to Dukhan Beach on its western coast.

Abdullah Al Dosari, Chairman of the Organisational Committee and Director of Events and Activities at QSFA, explained in a press conference that the decision to hold the race in December was made because it offered suitable weather conditions for participants, allowing them to take advantage of lovely and temperate weather. Al Dosari also said that everyone above the age of 16 who enjoys running or is an athlete should take advantage of this marathon.

He clarified that registration will be open for three months and that participants may access the QSFA application for information on aid stations, participation instructions, and registration. Participants may sign up in teams of no more than six persons or competitors, according to Al Dosari.

This ultra run, one of several big races and marathons that the federation puts on throughout the year, is distinguished from other competitions by its length of 90 km and the presence of five aid stations, according to the QSFA Director of Events and Activities. The Qatar East to West Ultramarathon has the following aid stations: Sheraton Park serves as the starting point, then Al Shahaniya, Nasraniya, Al Owaina, and Cuban Hospital, with Dukhan Beach serving as the finish line. Water and specialty beverages will be offered to competitors at aid stations, which will also have medical staff, ambulances and law enforcement on hand to help out if necessary.

The ultramarathon will be available to amateur men and women as well as professionals, provided that they are in good physical condition considering that the race lasts between 12 and 16 hours.
