‘Scoring 4 The Goals’ campaign launched by EAA

As part of its work to help achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) by 2030, the Education Above All (EAA) Foundation is set to launch a campaign on the side lines of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. The ‘Scoring 4 the Goals’ campaign highlights EAA’s unique commitment to the SDGs with events hosted with partners throughout the World Cup, including world leaders, the United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres, SDG advocates, global campaigners, and football fans, said Head of Advocacy at EAA Mubarak Al Thani while speaking at a press conference yesterday held at the Host Country Media Centre.

The campaign kicks off on 21st November with interactive exhibitions, activities, and events taking place around the Sustainable Development Goals pavilion in the FIFA Fan Festival. “The campaign will run until December 17 and will include numerous activations held in collaboration with EAA’s partners, such as opening and closing ceremonies with world leaders,” he said. EAA will be present in its SDG Moments pavilion, designed by Zaha Hadid Architects for displaced populations. “The structures unique an architecture can transform into a classroom, a community hub or a medical facility at low cost. The same tents are already being used as school in refugee communities in Turkey and Pakistan,” said Al Thani.

“A ‘Scoring 4 the Goals’ permanent exhibition will take place in the FIFA Fan Festival as well as a digital campaign with films, animations, clips and testimonials on the importance of the SDGs and how we can implement them,” he added.

It will also include an immersive art exhibit which will allow fans to learn more about the SDGs and the importance of achieving them, ‘More Sustainability, Less Waste’.

The ‘Scoring 4 the Goals’ campaign will provide material on the United Nation’s “A World in Support of Act Now” app, which allows users to track the impact of their choices on sustainable development. There are 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs). Established in 2015, the SDGs are humanity’s blueprint for an inclusive, prosperous, peaceful future by 2030. They are a measurable action plan used by all countries around the world, to motivate and track their progress towards equality, development and a sustainable future, using education and health as their main tool. “We must view these goals through their interconnectedness to achieve peace and prosperity for all,” said Executive Director, Protect Education in Insecurity and Conflict at EAA, Dr. Maleiha Malik.  “At EAA, we believe that Sustainable Development Goal 4 is the key to unlocking all SDGs.  SDG4 focuses on quality education and the provision of equal and inclusive education and lifelong learning for all,” she added.
