Snap Inc. and Qatar Museums partner to launch immersive AR experiences

Snap Inc. has collaborated with Qatar Museums (QM) to celebrate its anniversary through a series of immersive augmented reality (AR) experiences.

Under the “Evolution Nation” campaign, the project showcases Qatar’s deep-rooted heritage and modern creativity through cutting-edge digital storytelling.

The launch features interactive AR experiences at the National Museum of Qatar (NMoQ) and Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art, allowing visitors to discover Qatar’s cultural journey in a dynamic, technology-driven way.

Snapchat’s AR technology unveils hidden stories and milestones, offering an engaging and immersive experience. During the 50th anniversary celebration, VIP guests also had the chance to use Spectacles for a hands-free, exclusive exploration of the museum’s journey.

On Snapchat and Spectacles, “Past” showcases Qatar’s first cultural hub from 1906’s White Palace to its 1975 transformation into the old Qatar National Museum. Exclusively on Snapchat, “Present” reimagines the museum as a living desert rose symbolizing Qatar’s spirit and beauty. 

Later this year, Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art will unveil an AR experience for its 15th anniversary, offering a fresh, interactive way to experience modern and contemporary art.
