The 2025 Open Call for the Single Image and Project Awards will begin on August 1 and run through September 20, 2025, according to the Tasweer Photo Festival Qatar. The most recent edition of this biennial event continues to honor and assist Western Asia and North Africa (WANA) photographers who are 18 years of age or older by providing financial support, visibility, and possibilities for professional growth through two separate award categories.
Participants in the two award categories have the opportunity to interact with the larger artistic community and receive recognition on a global scale, which helps to advance photography and visual culture throughout the WANA region. Tasweer Single Image Award and Tasweer Project Award are two of the 2025 Tasweer Award categories.
Photographers of all skill levels are welcome to submit a single shot that reflects a narrative or personal experience for the Tasweer Single shot Award. A monetary reward of QR2,000 will be awarded to the chosen photographer, and their work will be displayed in Tasweer exhibitions and further promoted online and through public programming.
Photographers who apply for the Tasweer Project Award will be given a grant of QR30,000 to start, develop, or finish a photographic project. In addition to curatorial advice, mentorship, and the opportunity to display their work in person and online through publications and public programs, recipients will also have the opportunity to participate in the fourth edition of the Tasweer Photo Festival in 2027.
For both up-and-coming and seasoned photographers, the Tasweer Photo Festival Awards remain an essential forum, promoting the power of photography to shape and disseminate local viewpoints to a worldwide audience.
