Qatar's Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister, HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, officially opened the inaugural Geneva International Motor Show Qatar (GIMS Qatar) at the Doha Exhibition & Convention Centre (DECC). Top authorities including Interior Minister HE Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad Al Thani, Qatar Tourism Chairman and Qatar Airways Group CEO Akbar Al Baker, and Qatar Tourism Deputy Chairman HE Saad bin Ali Al Kharji attended the occasion. The inaugural ceremony was also attended by a number of ministers, ambassadors, and senior delegates.

Car aficionados visiting the exhibition will be among the first to witness ten groundbreaking new cars, which will be introduced during the event. Within DECC, exhibitors will occupy more than 10,000 square metres.

GIMS Qatar will open to the public on October 7 after welcoming the world's media on October 6. The event will be staged in conjunction with the Formula 1 Qatar Airways Qatar Grand Prix 2023, which will also be hosted in Doha from October 6 to 8.

A Forum for the Future of Car Design will be hosted at the National Museum of Qatar at the 2023 GIMS Qatar. Offroad adventure activities will also be available at Sealine Desert, as well as rides and drives at the Lusail International Circuit and the opportunity to view a 'best of the best' collection of historic vehicles.
