Al Khor Family Park and eight beaches have been renovated and reopened by the Ministry in coordination with the Supervisory Committee for Beautification of Roads and Public Places in Qatar. The Ministry has signed contracts with nine kiosks for serving light meals and beverages to visitors. Food kiosks have been set up across Al Khor Family Park. Five out of nine kiosks have started operation.
The mini zoo area at Al Khor Family Park also received up gradation. Umbrellas have been installed around the cages of lions and monkeys. The flooring of play areas has been replaced to ensure the safety of children. Work is currently underway to complete the maintenance and development of the elephant enclosure.
The visiting time to Al Khor Family Park is from 8am until 11pm, seven days a week, by booking and purchasing entry tickets through the website of the Ministry of Municipality or the ‘Oun’ app on smart devices. Visitors can also buy tickets from the branches of Al Meera at Al Matar, Hayat Plaza, Gulf Mall, Mansoura, Al Wakra, Al Khor, Al Thakhira and Al Shamal.
Al Khor Family Park receives surplus visitors especially at weekend on Thursday and Friday when the number of visitors is over 4,000.
The eight beaches which have been opened after renovation include Al Wakra Family Beach, Al Wakra Public Beach, Simaisma Family Beach (Al Daayen), Al Kharaij Beach (Al Rayyan), Safa Al Tawq Beach, Al Ferkiah Beach (Al Khor and Al Zakhira) Al Ghariya Beach (Al Shamal) and Sealine Beach (Al Wakra). Shaded areas, walkways along the beaches, play areas and kiosks for serving light meals and beverages are all included in the new services added to these beaches. Visitors can enjoy different games like volleyball and football. Children can also play games on the sands.
Al Wakra Family Beach, in an area of 147,000 sqm, is located 25km away from Doha. Al Wakra Public Beach stretching an area of 394,000sqm is 26km from Doha. 104,000 sqm Simaisma Family Beach is located 44km from Doha. Al Farkiya Beach in an area of 146,000sqm is located 53km from Doha.
