MoCI bans export of new cars under one year registration

In a recent circular, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) announced that new cars that haven't been registered for at least a year can no longer be exported.

This rule is in accordance with MoCI Circular No. 03 for 2025, which mandates that auto shops nationwide refrain from exporting brand-new vehicles that haven't been registered for at least a year. Additionally, it said that in order to prevent infractions and legal action, dealers must adhere to the regulation in its entirety.

It further stated that the purpose of this legislation is to guarantee the consistent supply of new automobiles in the local market. Additionally, the new circular restricts illicit business practices, stops shortage-driven price increases, and bans export initiatives that jeopardize market stability.

Car dealers and other companies that export automobiles are the parties directly involved in this new revelation.

However, authorized auto dealers and privately owned vehicles are immune from the circular.

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry strongly advises all parties involved to cooperate completely and adhere to the directives given to help establish a stable and safe business environment and improve competition in the local market.
