Mal Lawal 4, a unique platform in the area that honors the art of collecting, was unveiled by the National Museum of Qatar (NMoQ). Msheireb Sahat Al Nakhel Unit X04 will host the show till April 10, 2025. The purpose of Mal Lawal, which is sponsored by H E Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad Al Thani, Chairperson of Qatar Museums (QM), is to highlight the region's rich history and provide information on private collectors, collections, and collecting customs in Qatar.
With a focus on the 1990s, this edition of Mal Lawal (or "From the old times" in English) takes a curatorial approach to examining the history of gaming before to the year 2000, which was characterized by the development of sophisticated graphics capabilities that led to the gaming industry's explosive rise.
The purpose of the exhibition is to show how collectors have used their collections to preserve memories of this pivotal period in gaming history. Atari 2600 console from 1980 lent by Kamal Naji Muhammad; Sakhr AX-170 keyboard from 1986 lent by Dr. Mohammad Al Kuwari; Fairchild channel F console and games lent by Fahad Al Kuwari; and numerous other unique items are among the highlight items.
