UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity; Ministry of Culture secures the inscription of Arab-backed Henna file

The Ministry of Culture secured the inclusion of the Arab-supported Henna file on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

This decision was made during the 19th session of the intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, which is taking place until December 7 in Asuncion, Paraguay.

The recognition followed collaborative efforts by 16 Arab nations.

In its announcement, UNESCO described Henna as "a deciduous tree that grows in hot regions and is considered sacred by communities in Northern Africa and the Middle East."

UNESCO highlighted Henna as a symbol of adornment and joy for women, deeply intertwined with long-standing societal traditions.
