Construction works of Al Furjan Parks in several municipalities are nearing completion

The Supervisory Committee for the Beautification of Roads and Public Spaces in Qatar, in collaboration with the Ministry of Municipalities, has announced that 85% of the construction work on Al Furjan Parks in various areas of Qatar has been completed, including 14 parks with an area of 123,048. m2 containing various recreational and sports facilities distributed in several municipalities.

The Public Works Authority (Ashgal) on Thursday explained that the works are underway in 14 parks covering an area of ​​123,048 square meters and will be distributed among different municipalities.

According to the statement, the Ministry of Municipalities is interested in providing Al Furjan Parks in various municipalities of the country, especially in areas lacking parks and green spaces.

The Ministry, represented by the Public Parks Department, is also keen to increase the per capita share of green space, which will positively reflect on the health and safety of residents.

On this occasion Eng. Mohammad Arqub Al Khaldi, Chairman of the Supervisory Committee for the Beautification of Roads and Public Spaces in Qatar, said: “The committee is keen to implement Al Furjan Parks with the aim of contributing to the development of public parks in Qatar. As per the committee's plan to beautify various areas and provide all the facilities to the community members, it is in line with the current directions of the country in terms of increasing green areas. This comes in line with the comprehensive development plan being implemented in various service establishments in Qatar.

Bu Hamour, Al Sailiya, Al Muraikh and Al Ebb Parks are designed in accordance with the character of the area, the surrounding buildings and the main attractions of the area, said Engineer Maryam Al-Kuwari, Project Design Manager at the Committee.

"70 percent of parks include green spaces to help improve climate by reducing temperature and carbon emissions. Besides providing an aesthetic appearance, they make parks attractive and enjoyable and encourage visitors to interact with the surrounding environment and enjoy nature. There are playgrounds for children, benches to ensure the comfort of visitors, and pedestrian and running paths to provide opportunities for exercise. This includes," she added.
