Doha Metro announces few changes to its metro and metrolink services during AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023

For the forthcoming AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023, Doha Metro has announced a few improvements to its metro and metrolink services.  For the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023, Doha Metro and Lusail Tram will start operating at 12 p.m. on Friday, January 12, 2024. The announcement was made on their official social media accounts.

It also revealed that during the competition, Al Waab QLM, shelter 2, will be the location of its metroexpress service at Sport City. Also, the MetroLink services have been improved in several places.

Al Sudan Bus Station will serve as the operating base for the M311 metrolink service, rather than Sport City Station. During the event, the M202 and M203 metrolink services will run out of Qatar National Library Station, shelter 1, rather than the Education City station.

The AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023 Local Organising Committee's Executive Director of Mobility and Logistics, Faisal Al-Moftah, stated at a press conference it has 37 metro stations to transport fans, five tournament stadiums connected to the metro, and four stadiums connected by private transport buses. In addition, he mentioned that 81,000 parking spots would be available near the nine stadiums hosting the AFC Asian Cup and that 600 eco-friendly buses would transport spectators and journalists throughout the competition.
