Hamad International Airport (HIA) and Qatar Airways have warned travellers about fraudulent social media accounts impersonating them to obtain personal information.
HIA said it will never request passport details through phone calls, emails, SMS, or social media and urged passengers to rely only on its official channels. Qatar Airways also advised travellers to verify its official X accounts — @QatarAirways and @QRSupport — and avoid suspicious links.
The warning, accompanied by a graphic showing the two verified profiles, aims to protect travellers from potential scams.
Qatar Airways said all official communications will come only from its verified channels and urged passengers to report suspicious accounts and rely on trusted platforms.
Hamad International Airport, one of the world’s top-ranked airports, handles millions of passengers each year and said ensuring passenger trust and security remains a top priority.
Airport officials said impersonation scams are becoming more sophisticated, with fraudsters using fake profiles to trick travellers into sharing personal data for identity theft or financial gain.
Passengers are urged to verify the authenticity of any communication claiming to be from the airport, avoid sharing personal information, and report suspicious accounts to authorities.
Hamad International Airport reaffirmed its commitment to passenger safety and advised travellers to rely only on official channels for flight updates and travel information.
