INTERCOM Doha 2023 Conference; will bring together museum professionals from all over the world

The eagerly awaited INTERCOM Doha 2023 Conference will bring together museum professionals from all over the world to discuss the most recent innovations and trends in the field of museums as well as the challenges and obstacles that cultural institutions must overcome. Qatar Museums announced that it will be hosting the conference.

The National Museum of Qatar (NMoQ) will host The Future Museum: Framing the Skills and Mindsets of the Visionary Leader Conference from May 7 to May 9. It is sponsored by ICOM Qatar and organised by ICOM-INTERCOM in collaboration with Qatar Museums, CIMAM, ICOM SEE, and ICOM Croatia.

QM plays a critical role in fostering change and acting as a role model for the museums industry as the leading cultural organisation in the area. The host venue, NMoQ, opened in March 2019 in a Jean Nouvel-designed structure. It aims to celebrate and protect Qatar's natural history and heritage, interact with the present, and inspire the nation's aspirations for the future.  "INTERCOM, the International Committee for Museum Management, is the world's leading organisation in its field, helping professionals set the standard in establishing best practises for governing and administering museums and advancing them in their missions," said H E Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, Chairperson of Qatar Museums.

The ICOM - INTERCOM Doha meeting's topic is particularly pressing, and participants will have the chance to review the research ICOM - INTERCOM recently carried out into the effect of international crises on museum leaders and decision-makers. For Qatar Museums, it is extremely meaningful to hold a meeting that will result in fresh perspectives and answers on a problem of this magnitude.

"As a leader in museum innovation and cultural diplomacy on a global scale, Qatar Museums is dedicated to promoting discussion, cooperation, and knowledge-sharing among museum professionals around the globe.

The CEO of Qatar Museum, Dr. Ahmad Al Namla, said, "We are honoured to host Intercom 2023 in Doha, a conference that provides a singular opportunity for professionals to share ideas and insights, and we are extremely happy to be part of this conversation.

"We welcome our colleagues from around the world to experience the best of our rich cultural heritage, vibrant contemporary art scene, and world-class portfolio of museums and galleries. We look forward to sharing our expertise and learning from one another."

The conference will offer a forum for idea exchange and the sharing of best practises in the field of communication and the museum sector through a number of keynote talks, panel discussions, workshops, and networking opportunities. The conference will centre on three main themes that are all related to visionary museum leadership: the nature of effective museum governance and why it is crucial to a museum's success, as well as the profile of the museum leader and the essential abilities and mindset required for effective leadership.

Delegates from all over the globe, including museum directors, curators, educators, researchers, and communication specialists, are anticipated at the event.

Dr. Vlatka Hlupic, one of the most well-known and acclaimed thought leaders on personal and organisational transformation, Sheikha Amna Al Thani, Acting Deputy CEO of Museums, Collections and Heritage Protection and Director of NMoQ, Dr. PierLuigi Sacco, Professor of Cultural Economics at IULM University Milan, Senior Researcher at metaLAB at Harvard, visiting scholar at Harvard University, and Special Advisor to the President are the speakers who have been confirmed for the event.
