The 6th Asian Beach Games Sanya 2026 officially opened in a vibrant ceremony celebrating Asia’s cultural diversity. Held at Yasha Park’s Arena Theatre, the 75-minute show, A Date with the Sea and Sky, blended artistic performances with advanced visuals, highlighting Chinese heritage, Asian unity, and the tropical charm of Hainan Island and Sanya’s coastal beauty.
After the cultural showcase, six athletes—led by former table tennis champion Ding Ning—lit the torch to officially open the Games. It is Hainan’s first continental beach sports event and the first major international competition since the launch of the Hainan Free Trade Port.
Qatar’s delegation also made a strong appearance, with Shaheen Al-Kaabi and Haya Abu-Issa carrying the flag during the parade.
