The Ministry of Interior (MOI) has launched a safety awareness campaign to educate motorists about the risks of carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning inside vehicles. The campaign urges drivers to:
• Avoid keeping the engine running for extended periods in enclosed or poorly ventilated spaces.
• Inspect the exhaust system regularly for signs of leakage or corrosion.
• Watch for warning symptoms like fatigue, headaches, dizziness, nausea, or chest discomfort.
Carbon monoxide is an invisible, odorless, and tasteless gas that can be fatal when inhaled in confined areas. It forms due to incomplete fuel combustion, especially when car engines run in closed spaces.
Motorists are advised to immediately open the windows and leave the vehicle if they notice any such symptoms to allow fresh air circulation and prevent poisoning.
