A total lunar eclipse, also known as a "Blood Moon," will be visible from Qatar on Sunday evening, September 7, 2025. The Qatar Calendar House (QCH) has confirmed this unusual astronomical event, stating that all stages of the eclipse would be seen across the country, weather permitting.
According to NASA, the eclipse will be visible throughout Asia, Africa, Europe, Australia, parts of Antarctica, and the Middle East.
Qatar is in the optimum viewing zone, therefore locals are encouraged to plan ahead, especially as the event begins shortly after working hours for many. The Moon will become red for more than an hour.
Qatar's eclipse schedule, according to QCH as follows:
- Partial eclipse begins: 7:27 pm
- Total eclipse begins: 8:31 pm
- Maximum eclipse (Blood Moon): 9:12 pm
- Total eclipse ends: 9:53 pm
- Partial eclipse ends: 10:56 pm
- Total duration: 3 hours and 29 minutes
