10-day Visit Qatar Kite Festival is a soaring spectacle with a diverse array of kites

The 10-day Visit Qatar Kite Festival began on January 25, transforming the Grand Cruise Terminal at the Old Doha Port into a stunning painting. The festival, which is in its second year, is a breathtaking show that captivates spectators with a wide variety of kites, from funny octopuses to magnificent lions.

This year's site, which was moved from the Museum of Islamic Art Park to the Old Doha Port, will host events from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. on weekdays until February 3; on weekends (Friday and Saturday), the celebrations will go until 10 p.m. Hundreds of excited spectators attended the opening day of the event. Various shaped kites, such as the famous Laʼeeb, the official mascot of Qatar for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, were painted on the skies.

The event offers more than simply a visual feast, with over 60 participants from across the globe. There are plenty of things for families with young children to enjoy, such as giant, colourful kite flying exhibitions, inflatable games, and foreign cuisine served at different food carts and kiosks. Iqbal Husain, a well-known kite flyer, conducts free classes where he emphasises the usage of biodegradable and environmentally friendly materials.

With workshops that teach children how to design, construct, and paint their kites, kids in particular may take part in creative kite-making. A joyful day is further guaranteed with face painting, slime activities, and an inflatable playground. Additionally, the workshop will provide 1,000 free kites to young fans. A variety of arcade games with unique prizes are waiting for people looking for thrill on firm ground. The event offers activities for both kids and adults, such as "Lift Me Up" and "Fun Bowling." Also arranged thoughtfully around the arena are Majlis seating sections and snack stalls for guests who would rather unwind.

There's more entertainment than just the skydiving acts; there are daily afternoon and evening concerts on the main stage, as well as parades, musicals, and roving acts.

In addition, the event has kite themes with flags from the United Kingdom, Palestine, Tunisia, and Qatar, among other countries. Additionally, like last year's event, enthralling night glow and enormous illuminating kites will light up the nighttime skies every day this year.

According to Qatar Tourism, family may spend valuable time together and take in the breathtaking sight of kites soaring majestically over the skies during the Kite Festival. Meanwhile, a stand is handily selling kites starting at QR35 for those who are keen to give it a try.
