16th edition of the Education Excellence Award; Qatar will honor its distinguished students and institutions in the education field

The 16th edition of the Education Excellence Award will be held under the generous patronage of the Amir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, under the slogan 'With Excellence We Build Generations'. Qatar will honor its distinguished students and institutions in the education field this Wednesday. 64 winners of different categories under the award will be honored this year, out of 199 applicants who submitted their nominations and were subject to the criteria and conditions of the award.

This year's Excellence Award covers eight categories: Education Excellence Award for primary school students which was won by 21 students, Education Excellence Award for preparatory school students which was won by 8 students, Education Excellence Award for secondary school students which was won by 4 students, the distinguished teacher award which was won by two teachers, and the Education Excellence Award for university graduates which was won by 24 university students, Education Excellence Award for holders of a master's degree that was won by two students, Education Excellence Award for PhD holders which was won by two PhD holders; Education Excellence Award for the distinguished scientific research for the secondary stage which was won by a student.

The Education Excellence Day Award is an occasion to honor the scientifically distinguished people of Qatar in various fields in order to spread the culture of creativity and excellence in the Qatari society, to motivate students for more excellence and outstanding academic achievement, to create integration between individual and institutional efforts in order to improve the outcomes of the educational process, and to bring it to international levels and standards.

The award, which was launched by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education for the first time in 2006, reflects the extent of appreciation and attention that the state attaches to the scientifically distinguished people of Qatar by honoring and celebrating them, deepening the concepts of excellence, encouraging all individuals and educational institutions to develop their performance, and promoting positive trends towards knowledge and scientific research.

The award promotes the spirit of innovation among students, researchers and educational institutions, motivates the spirit of competition between individuals and educational institutions in the field of scientific excellence, and directs individual and institutional energies towards scientific excellence in fields that serve the country's developmental purposes.

In its previous sessions, the Education Excellence Award motivated the people of Qatar towards excellence until it became a culture in society in an environment that provides wide options in education, and great capabilities harnessed by the state through national strategies and clear, careful educational plans aimed at building an educational system in line with the highest standards of educational systems, and by adopting the latest technologies and educational and research programs in curricula, assessment and training which contributed to the development of students' capabilities, discovering their talents and creative potential, and enhancing their scientific research skills in various disciplines and fields, especially those needed by the state.

Since the launch of the Education Excellence Award until the fifteenth edition, the number of those honored reached 872 distinguished individuals and institutions in the various categories of the award.

Ali Abdullah Al Buainain, CEO of the Education Excellence Award and Assistant Undersecretary for Shared Services Affairs at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, had said that the state represented by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education attached great importance to scientific excellence and to distinguished students in various scientific and research fields and disciplines, stressing that this approach aimed at spreading the culture of creativity and excellence in the Qatari society, based on the belief that the advancement of countries comes through distinguished scientific giving that produces creative ideas to take the country to the ranks of developed countries.

He explained that the celebration of the Education Excellence Award is a national scientific occasion to highlight the distinguished scientific works of primary and preparatory students and secondary school students as well as university graduates and holders of higher degrees, master's and doctoral degrees, in addition to highlighting the award's interest in the distinguished teacher, distinguished school and scientific research. It is also an occasion that brings together the scientifically distinguished citizens of the country who shape the future of the country with the leaders of the country who value their efforts and are keen to support, motivate and encourage them for more scientific giving, excellence and creativity.

Since its launch, the Education Excellence Award has become an educational and developmental legacy that reflects a lofty vision, message, goals and objectives, stemming from care for the human element, especially that scientifically distinguished students at all levels represent Qatar's human capital role in achieving its national vision.

Throughout its course, the award contributed to the establishment of a culture of scientific excellence and to supporting the creativity process and the skills of Qatari students which reflected positively on the excellent outputs of Qatar's schools and educational institutions, a matter which really confirms that excellence is a strategic goal in the policy of wise leadership. 

To document this pioneering march, the Ministry of Education and Higher Education inaugurated on Sunday the Education Excellence Day Award documentary exhibition at Katara Cultural Village which will last until Thursday.

The exhibition introduces the award's criteria and how to apply for it, and also highlights the award's history, including the number of honorees, their photos, and the medals and certificates they received. The exhibition includes a number of pavilions related to the award march.
