Meteorology Department warns of Thundery rain, strong wind, and high sea in Qatar

The Department of Meteorology said in its daily weather report that weather inshore until 6 pm today, January 3, will be misty to foggy at first and partly cloudy to cloudy skies with rain at most places thundery at times and cold at night. It also issued a warning of expected thundery rain associated with strong wind and poor visibility at times.

The department further said that the lowest temperature recorded this morning was 14 degree Celsius in Al Karanah, while in Doha the temperature reached 16 degree Celsius. Meanwhile the apparent temperature was even lower, it added.  

"Cloudy weather, with continuous observations of rain in some areas and chances of rain, are expected to continue for today at intermittent intervals," the department tweeted. 

Visibility was low in places as some areas were foggy. Wind inshore will be northwesterly to northerly 07 to 17KT gusting to 25 KT during thundery rain. It added that there is a marine warning in place today. 

Offshore will be partly cloudy to cloudy with scattered rain maybe thundery at times, the report added, warning of expected thunder rain, strong wind and high sea at first. Meanwhile the wind will be northwesterly to northeasterly 08 to 18 KT reaches 25 KT with thunder rain.

Sea state inshore will be 2 to 3 FT rises to 5 FT with thunder rain. Offshore it will be 3 to 5 FT rises to 8 FT with thunder rain.
