Old Doha Port will host the Visit Qatar Kite Festival's second edition from January 25 to February 3, 2024. An amazing display of 60 contestants' enormous kites flown from all over the world will be enjoyed by spectators. Old Doha Port, the festival's location partner, and strategic partner Qatar Tourism both provide help to the event's organisation.
Old Doha Port has been chosen as the location for this edition because it offers a wealth of historical background, contemporary conveniences, and a breathtaking view of the West Bay skyline, perfectly capturing the spirit of Doha's past and its attraction today.
During the busy cruise season, the Visit Qatar Kite Festival, which is held in front of the cruise terminal, will draw even more foreign guests from ocean ships.
The festival, over the course of ten days, will offer a variety of family-friendly activities, including flying displays of enormous, colourful kites, an inflatable games area by Celebration Palace, an international food court, and free workshops for building kites taught by Iqbal Husain, a seasoned kite-flying expert who recently took part in the 4th edition of the Qatar Balloon Festival. Kids will discover how to design, construct, and paint their kites using sustainable, biodegradable materials. They will also learn how to take them into the air and fly them like experts.
This thrilling event, which had its debut in March 2023 and was well received by the Doha community, is being brought back by Safe Flight Solutions, the company behind the well-liked Qatar Balloon Festival series, in conjunction with asfary.com, its online platform for booking local activities and adventures.
The promoters noted that there is a cap on the number of seats available for the free kite-building workshops, which will soon be available to register on vqikf.com.
