The Qatari delegation participating in the 2023 Arab Games in Algeria has started its journey with a silver medal in athletics

The Qatari delegation to the 2023 Arab Games in Algeria, which formally opened on July 5, 2023 and will run through July 15, 2023, began its voyage with a silver medal in athletics. Hamdi Al-Amin won the silver medal in the high jump competition with a height of 2.16 metres.

Al-Amin acknowledged his joy at obtaining the mission's first medal at the Arab Games, stating that he aspired to win the gold medal, but that he will make up for it during the next events. Ashraf Othman of Qatar qualified for the men's 400m finals with a timing of 45.97 seconds.

The Qatari flag was raised in the sports village, the headquarters of the delegations participating in the Arab Games, while the Qatari delegation chose boxing champion Abdulhadi Al-Marri to carry the Qatari flag at the opening ceremony of the tournament, which is scheduled to take place on 6 July 2023, under the slogan "With sports we rise, and in Algeria." It is worth mentioning that the Arab Games include over 3,500 competitors from 22 nations participating in 20 different categories and disciplines.
